Pinterest Knock Off Frame

Over the weekend, we purchased a new refrigerator YAY! Yesterday, I had to wait for it to be delivered BOO!

I decided to try to “roughly” recreate something I saw on Pinterest that Linda from “It All Started With Paint” originally pinned, that was originally created by Craftberry Bush

We’ve been in the process of fixing our house up to sell, hence the new refrigerator, and I’m also updating our master bath to have a more “spa like” feel.

I’ve always heard that master baths & kitchens sell houses so, that’s where we’re making the most changes and this little beach inspired frame will work perfectly with my new paint colors

I picked up these cute little frames at Michaels, in the dollar sector

The original post used paint sticks, I opted for shims because I can cut them with a razor and because we had a bunch of them in the garage

The original post used stain which is MUCH cuter but, I had paint so that’s what I used

Next, I laid them out on the frame

Then, sanded the rough edges. This is the perfect size frame for Instagram photos

Then, sanded the rough edges and the tops, this softened the colors quite a bit.If you’re an Instagram fan, I’m pretty sure this is the perfect size frame

I had a bag of faux starfish from a summer inspired sign I sold in my Etsy store last year ;) I think I purchased them at Michael’s too.

This project has really inspired me to try other ideas with shims so, don’t be surprised if I post more in the near future and who knows, I might even try to knock off a few of those healthy recipes I’ve been pinning.

I added a walnut stain and layered some of the piece when I glued it together. Still not sure if that was a good decision....It's already looking more "spa like" In our master bath, that is if you can get past the blue painters tape and toilet brush :(

So glad it’s Friday!

While I'm on the subjects of Michael's and knock offs, they have these cute little ceramic egg trays for $3.50. I've seen them on West Elm, Anthropologie etc for much more so I think that's a great knock off!
